TTAC at JMU presents
The VDOE Region 5 TTAC at James Madison University will present a 2-day workshop on "A Closer Look at Asperger's" on September 20 & 21 at the JMU Festival Conference and Student Center. This workshop will focus on Evidence-Based Practices for teaching students with Asperger’s. Friday will conclude with a panel discussion by individuals with Asperger’s. Each participant will have the opportunity to submit a question for the panelists. Participants will leave with tools and resources to make immediate change in their profession. VCU-ACE Offering Live Training for Paraprofessionals, August 14-16, 2012 in Richmond
Recognizing that the preferred learning styles of individuals may vary, VCU-ACE will occasionally hold live trainings to meet the needs of those participants who prefer a face-to-face learning experience. The information presented in these professional development opportunities will correspond with the high-quality intensive training provided in the VCU-ACE online courses.
VCU-ACE is currently offering a live training for Paraprofessionals on August 14-16, 2012 in Richmond. This professional development opportunity is designed to give participants information and opportunities to practice skills relevant to working with students with ASD. The live training includes a variety of interactive activities that will allow participants to:
• Enhance their knowledge related to the characteristics and learning needs of students with ASD, and
• Build skills related to implementing teacher directed instruction and behavioral support strategies.
The competencies covered in this live training are the same as in the online course that VCU-ACE now offers.
