Applications (apps) for Apple and Android devices are proliferating rapidly, with at least 400,000 now available. Many are designed as supportive tools for people with disabilities, often by engineers with family members who have autism or other conditions.
We have prepared a catalog of 50 useful apps that support people with autism in task and time management, wayfinding, communication and more. But many other organizations have developed their own app catalogs. Here are links to some of the most useful ones:
- Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) downloadable PDF catalog
- PDF printable catalog of Apple apps for (Special) Education from Speech-Language Pathology Sharing blog
- Autism Speaks
- Book Room Reviews (a blog published by a woman who has a son with high-functioning autism)
- Moms with Apps Autism Awareness List
- iPad Apps for Autism (spreadsheet catalog)
- Apps for Autism (easy to access categories)
